Overview
The second/third period class taught in Global was Religion, taught by Mr. Toole. With his sarcastic and humorous way of teaching, Religion class was always an amazing period filled with laughter, learning and gentle insults. Mr. Toole’s second/third period Religion class symbolizes the hero’s journey, which he has acknowledged in his own life and further passed onto the Global class of 2017. Mr. Toole also guided us as a class through the novel and movie “Life of Pi” to illustrate the importance of religion and help students get a better understanding of how religion impacts one’s life. Assignments Sway Sway was a four-person group project. Each group was assigned one of the following religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Shinto. Each group put on a 25-35 minute interactive presentation for the class, highlighting key points of the religion such as special rituals, dances, sacred locations and sacred writings. https://sway.com/5iu0FpUiQyX1rD8j?ref=Link Life of Pi
We were fortunate enough to read the exquisite novel "Life of Pi", by Yann Martel. The novel served as a culmination of our English and Religion courses, revealing different concepts of religion and a diverse set of viewpoints. |
