Why did you choose to do Global?
I chose to partake in the journey that is Global Perspectives because I wished to expand my knowledge of the world around me. I also wanted to meet and collaborate with a unique and amazing group of people with similar interests. Global was my opportunity to undertake in a unique educational program and learn more about the world I call home.
How has Global changed you?
Before I embarked on the adventure of Global Perspectives I was a very introverted and quiet individual who preferred to stay within the confines of my personal bubble. However, the program has allowed me to break free from these confines and collaborate with my fellow classmates (and now family) in a new and innovative way. I was able to broaden my horizons and think outside the box. Furthermore, through my time dancing in Cuba I was able to develop confidence and was able to grow as a person. I learned to dance for the sake of dancing!
Favourite memory?
I absolutely love the outdoors and the feeling of the sun on my face. If I could, I would spend my entire life outside. My favourite memory comes from my time in the beautiful country of Cuba. I love swimming in the ocean with my fellow Globalites, the vibrant rays of the sun reflecting of the stunning teal water, the sound of crashing waves and laughter filling my ears. It was truly an incredible experience.
What would you tell future Global students?
Organization is the key to success. Stay on top of your work and you will be thankful you did as the course progresses. New assignments and tasks pop up at a constant rate, so as soon as something is assigned, get to it!! The major ISU on your chosen global issue may seem daunting at first, but breath in and out, relax, and tackle it section by section.
Favourite Global Quote?
“In the Global Perspectives Program, you get out what you put in. So make the effort to better yourself and educate yourself on what is happening in the world you live in.” -Mr. Babcock
Goals After Global?
Attain a Bachelors of Science at Queen’s University. I enjoy helping people so I wish to enter the field of Fire Fighting and become a fire marshal so that I can encourage fire prevention and be a lead investigator on the origin of these destructive fires.
